Why numbers matter
Employers hire accountants for accuracy, speed, savings and insight. Numbers make those visible.
Where to find metrics
- Volume: transactions, invoices, entities, accounts, employees paid, clients audited.
- Speed: close days, report turnaround, filing lead time, DSO or DPO.
- Accuracy: error rate, audit adjustments, number of rework cycles.
- Money: savings, recoveries, margin improvement, tax saved, working capital released.
- Scale: budget, revenue, portfolio size, headcount managed.
Formulas for bullets
- Action verb + what + how + result.
- Reduced [metric] from [A] to [B] by [method].
- Delivered [outcome] worth [amount] for [scope].
If you do not have exact numbers
Estimate honestly with ranges or approximate values and be ready to explain how you arrived at them. Never invent figures.
Confidentiality
You can use percentages or ranges instead of exact company figures when numbers are confidential.
